Wayne Rooney reveals how Ole Gunnar is different from Mourinho

Manchester United players expressed themselves with freedom against Cardiff City, Wayne Rooney has said.

A 5-1 win over Cardiff was what United offered Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as a perfect start as the club boss and Rooney said the players looked happier and freer than it was the case under Jose Mourinho. He also hinted that some negative things were happening around the players and the manager and none was good for the club. Prior to his sacking, Mourinho had developed some tense relationship with Pogba as it was widely reported.

“It’s a fantastic day for the club. Manchester United’s a big part of my life and it was never nice watching what was going on. Once Ole got the job, I thought I’d give him a message of congratulations. The players obviously looked a bit restricted under Mourinho. The players have the ability and against Cardiff, we’ve seen that. A lot of things were happening around the team and around the manager, which isn’t good. Ole’s given them that freedom.” Rooney said.

“I’m pleased with all of them, every single one of them. When you’ve got Martial and Jesse Lingard down either side, Rashford up top with Paul [Pogba] supporting them, it’s exhilarating to watch and as long as we keep that standard up we’ll keep picking up points. One of the things I talked about today is that a Manchester United team should never ever be outworked. It doesn’t matter what team you play, you should run more than them and then your skills will give you a chance of winning again,” he added.
