CJ David Maraga to cater for treatment of driver whose car collided with his

Chief Justice David Maraga has pledged to do everything within his means to ensure driver of car which collided with his while traveling to church in Nakuru on Saturday, December 22, is fully treated.

Maraga’s car collided with a personal vehicle in Ngata area, Nakuru county causing him and wife Yucabeth Nyaboke minor injuries which saw them admitted to Nairobi Hospital where he was airlifted to following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive.

In a statement to the public released on Sunday, December 23, Maraga who was discharged from hospital on Saturday evening said he was informed the driver of car which hit his vehicle sustained more serious injuries.

“The Inspector General of Police has this morning assured me Mr Kigen, the driver of the other vehicle who got more serious injuries than we did is in stable condition,” read part of the statement by Maraga.

The CJ who thanked Uhuru for his kind gesture to airlift them to Nairobi from War Memorial Hospital went ahead to indicate he was wishing the other motorist well and would help him get treated. “We are praying for him and will do anything we can to assist his treatment,” Maraga said.

He said doctors, after comprehensive analyses, confirmed they had sustained minor injuries. His driver and aide were not injured in the incident. Maraga also extended words of gratitude to Deputy President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga for their goodwill messages.

The CJ disclosed that Raila had visited them and prayed with them on Sunday morning. “We are touched by goodwill messages of DP Ruto and Raila, the latter having visited us this morning and prayed with us. Those traveling to take extra care,” said Maraga.
