The last time we had an accident involving a Mercedes Benz in Kenya, it came with the tragic news that former Nyeri Governor Waweru Gakuru was dead.
So you will forgive Kenyans for fearing for the worst when news came in that Chief Justice David Maraga and his wife Yucabeth Nyaboke had been involved in a tragic accident along the Nakuru-Eldoret accident.
However, Kenyans can breath a sigh of relief as it has been revealed that the CJ is in a stable condition and has been rushed to the Nakuru War Memorial Hospital after the early morning accident that involved the CJs official car.
It is reported that the accident was so fatal that it left the car bonnet and front bumper badly damaged and the impact forced the airbags to deploy. The accident happened at Ngata farm, where the CJ and his wife were heading to church.
As details continue to emerge, it has been revealed that the car could have been over speeding and veered off the road after losing balance. It is not yet clear at the moment if it was Maraga on the driver’s sit or he had his official driver. Details about his security detail are also still scanty.
