If you think the joke about Meru’s having bad tempers is just a stereotype then maybe recent behaviour portrayed by Meru Senator Mithika Linturi will convince you otherwise. Senator Linturi has once again forcefully evicted his wife from their matrimonial home in Runda.

It is reported that over 15 goons, some dressed as police officers tried to evict Linturi’s wife, Maryanne Keitany from the house. The men tried to access the gates and when they could not manage to get in, they used rocks to break in.

Later on, the men were seen trying to move Keitany’s car that was outside the gate. Inside the compound, some security men were trying to keep her safe but one of the goons tried to sneak into the compound with a ‘machete’.

According to the neighbour who recorded the incident, Linturi was supposed to go back to their home and pick his things accompanied by his children.

“The Senator is restrained from physically or sexually abusing or threatening to abuse the applicant, the applicant’s staff, their six children and any other person associated with the applicant,” read the court order.

The drama between the love birds started when the two had a fight at their Runda home and it emerged that the Senator threatened to kill his wife.

“It was at that stage that he whipped out a gun and threatened to shoot me. I had to lock myself inside my bedroom waiting for things to calm down. Thereafter, I sought refuge in a neighbours house until Tuesday when I reported the matter to police,” Keitany reportedly told police.

Maryanne filed a complaint claiming that her husband, Mithika Linturi made threats to end her life.

Keitany is the former chief of staff in Deputy President William Ruto’s office.
