Napoli confirms they rejected Manchester bid for Koulibaly

Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed the club rejected a bid of £95 million from Manchester United for Kalidou Koulibaly.

The 27-year-old emerged as one of the stand out defenders in the world, helping his side to finish second in the league last season in Serie A.

The Senegalese’s performances have captured the attention of a host of European clubs, most notably United who have been in search for a centre back.

“Jose Mourinho wanted him, we rejected £95 million. But now it’s impossible that he leaves Napoli,” said De Laurentiis.

Koulibaly, who was recently nominated for the African Footballer of the Year award has made 174 appearances for the Naples club since joining from Genk back in 2014.
