ERIC BAILLY (£30m, From Villarreal)

VERDICT: JURY’S OUT

The central defender has endured difficulties with Mourinho but could yet come good in the future.

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC (Free, From PSG)

VERDICT: HIT

Integral in his first season, scoring 29 goals and acting as a catalyst for change after Louis van Gaal. Should never have returned after his knee injury.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived on a free transfer and was effective for Mourinho and United

PAUL POGBA (£89m, From Juventus)

VERDICT: MISS

Might well turn his United career around but performances have not been good enough and is one cause of factions within the camp.

VICTOR LINDELOF (£31m, From Benfica)

VERDICT: JURY’S OUT

A calamitous, error-strewn first season but is beginning to look more composed and became one of Mourinho’s more dependable players towards the end.

Swedish centre back Victor Lindelof endured a calamitous, error-strewn first season at United

NEMANJA MATIC (£40m, From Chelsea)

VERDICT: HIT

Matic has looked off the pace of late but did act as a calming influence in midfield last term when United really needed one.

ALEXIS SANCHEZ (Swap Deal, With Arsenal)

VERDICT: MISS

Looks a shadow of the player who starred at Arsenal and is not a happy man. Earns a minimum of £350,000 a week and has recorded just one Premier League goal since March.

Alexis Sanchez to United was always a gamble and it is one that really hasn't come off at all

DIOGO DALOT (£19m, From Porto)

VERDICT: HIT

The 19-year-old has been afforded time to bed in but looks like he has the tools to succeed at United after just a handful of appearances.

FRED (£52m, From Shakhtar Donetsk)

VERDICT: MISS

Not the midfielder United thought they were signing. Only 12 appearances so far and has looked lost. Recently found a place on the bench hard to come by.

Brazilian Fred has not looked the midfielder that United thought they were signing last summer

LEE GRANT (Free, From Stoke City)

VERDICT: JURY’S OUT

Brought in as a cheap third choice goalkeeper while Joel Pereira is out on loan. Came on during a penalty-shootout defeat by Derby when Sergio Romero was sent off.
