Yesterday the Somali community marked the Somali Night which was the first official Somali night a week after the Somali Heritage week in Mandera.
The Director of the event Ali Bash said that the event brings together Somalis of all walks to network and show case their culture in terms of food poetry and music engage the young people.
It was also an opportunity to hold common community related discussions as well as to promote solidarity between the Somali community.
The director also added that they intend to make it an annual event. He also confirmed that over 550 people including leaders were in attendance.
The stated that the attendance shows that people are in need of such platforms and they are therefore ready to have more of such events.
The event welcomed talent, entrepreneurs, designers among other people and the diversity is what allowed room for interaction and exchange of ideas.
The Community that is seen to be so reserved impressed netizens by the videos of the energetic and hyped traditional dances.
From the dressing that was decent and so fashionable the cultural dishes that got many of us salivating.
A day when the culture took its shape and full manifestation as many donned in unique designs borrowed from their traditional ways of life.
The event which was themed ‘Together we celebrate’ was graced by individuals who even reside beyond borders and this created a good impression of unity and solidarity.
