Khaligraph Jones Saluted By African Rap God M.I Abaga

2018 seem to have been a great year for the OG Khaligraph Jones. From releasing chart toping records to being named the best rapper in Africa, the OG seem to be finally living his dream, that of being the best that ever existed.

Khaligraph once again got nominated for a continental award, the Soundcity  MVP Awards that are set to take place on the 5th January 2019 from Eko Convention Centre in Lagos, Nigeria.

The Khali Cartel leader is up for Best Hip-hop award for which he will be battling against South Africans Nasty C, AKA, Kwesta Dakar, Nigerians M.I Abaga, Phyno and Falz as well as Ghanian Sarkodie.

One of his competitors, Nigeria’s M.I Abaga however feels that Khaligraph Jones deserves the award more than anyone else. According to M.I, Khaligraph is the only Artiste from Kenya that has been holding down the Hip Hop scene and that what he has done has had an impact in the entire continent.

“A deserved winner.. in all our countries( the title isn’t unanimous) in your country only one man has been holding hiphop down.. what you have done is the most impactful on the Continent!!!!!” said M.I Abaga

Khaligraph is not the only Kenyan artiste to have got a nomination as Popular boy group Sauti Sol are contending in various categories including, the group/duo of the year against Tanzania’s Navy Kenzo, South Africans Mi Casa and Mafikizolo. Their 2018 club banger alongside Nyashinski “Short n sweet” has received two nominations, Video of the Year and the Song of the Year.

Nigerian artist Wizkid is the most nominated artiste with nominations in Best Male MVP, Best Pop, Best Collaboration, Digital Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, Listeners’ cChoice, Viewers’ Choice and African Artiste of the Year categories.

In pushing the “Africa is Now” narrative, this year’s awards will honor excellent individuals and personalities in the areas of sports, entrepreneurship, creative arts, fashion, digital influence, and socio-political development as it ties into entertainment.
