Comedians confronted to shun tribalistic jokes

Comedy is interesting until it has to go to the extremes and crack jokes on religion or tribalism and it is actually funny until it is not.

A tweet by one Kenyan triggered this thought; What if we were all of one tribe what jokes would they crack?

Most will probably lose their jobs I guess. This is because some have known that to be funny, you have to site tribal examples  which are stereotypical.

It is laughable but its impact is the fact that unconsciously it shapes the perception we have of people in lines of their tribe and we naturally treat them in a certain way that could be inappropriate but no one notices because of the fact that it is becoming quite normal.

For those who cannot take bad jokes this could take a whole new turn.

Its a real hustle but Kenyans need a more vibrant industry  that grows and can be a competitive space that gives a challenge to upcoming comedians and those who desire to take up roles in that industry.

Many have complained but it rarely taken into account and now Kenyans wish that they could all up their game and break the monotony of

There are many instances where the jokes by comedians  costed them big and had to send out apologies for jokes gone bad.

This could serve as a warning or lesson to other Kenyan comedians and see that as a challenge that needs keenness and an equal measure of their choice of words.

Even with this coming off as a gap; the industry has been fast rising with some of the comedians gaining international recognition.

It is indeed not an easy job to make people laugh even for the first 5 minutes. With the equal recogition of their efforts, a one minute critic is not bad as it triggers the though of being better.

Comedians need to show that side that says remaining relevant does not necessary need to involve racial, tribal, religious or jokes focusing on peoples differences but on more creative and exciting fresh content.

That is what will  meet the cut and set standards for the comedy industry.

What are your thoughts on the constant tribal jokes that seem to have been normalized?
