Kenyans cry foul over hiked fare prices during festive season

Kenyans are  lamenting over the hiked fare prices  amid the festive season. There have been complaints from different parts of the country on the shooting prices.

It is always a rush  hour during the Christmas period and despite the directive issued by the NTSA on PSV drivers who hike prices unreasonably this seems to be ignored.

In a press statement issued on 4th December, NTSA warned that they will revoke licenses of any public service vehicle (PSV) operator found to be exploiting passengers by charging more than the usual amount.

“Our attention has been drawn to complaints by members of the public regarding exploitation through arbitrary increase of fair by PSV operators… We therefore reiterate that an operator risks revocation of their road license should the Authority receive a report of such an incidence,” said NTSA.

Even with this directive from the NTSA Kenyans are still crying foul and asking the authorities to come through even during this season.

The Festive season is usually characterized with a lot of travel and movement from the cities to the rural areas.

If it is not hiked prices then people get caught up in the rowdy passengers who are all scrambling to get a sit.

Many are advised to book earlier but for the vehicles that do not have a booking system it is always about survival for the fittest.

What can be done to control the issue of hiking of prices?
