Well-wishers have been visiting Mang’eni and the baby in hospital with clothes and food stuffs. “I am happy that people have equally been touched with the little girl’s sad story and have been buying clothes for the baby.” Mang’eni said he could be forced to adopt the child and ensure she gets a good education in case her parents fail to show up.

“Our duty as police officers is to secure life and property, I feel humbled to have saved a life of this innocent soul, it is not proper for parents to dumb their children in thickets like the case of this little baby,” he said. Matete AP boss Japheth Ambalwa praised Mang’eni for a job well done saying other officers must emulate the spirit.

Ambalwa has advised parents to sort out their differences without hurting their children.
