Mourinho at logger-heads with bosses

He really is having a hard time. Jose Mourinho is ‘increasingly angry over a lack of transfer activity’ at Manchester United. Is he aware they can’t sign players in December?

After signing just three players in the summer, and failing to capture the centre-half he so publicly yearned for, Mourinho is ‘desperate’ for his demands to be heeded in January.

To not back the Portuguese by signing a central defender was the worst decision of the Premier League season thus far, and has been reflected in the fact that only five clubs have conceded more Premier League goals.

In the words of Dave Woods and James Ducker of the Daily Telegraph, Mourinho ‘believes United’s defensive woes this season have underlined the folly of the failure to strengthen at the back in the summer’.

But he is now ‘on a fresh collision course’ with Ed Woodward as ‘he is growing more worried that he could again be rebuffed in the transfer window’.

The United manager would even contemplate selling Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones to generate enough money to bring in ‘a pedigree central defender’.

Selling three decent but flawed centre-halves to sign one brilliant ones sounds foolproof. He definitely wouldn’t get injured.

Mourinho ‘fears little active work is being done on potential ins and outs’, with his shortlist now essentially whittled down to Toby Alderweireld, Kalidou Koulibaly and Milan Skriniar.

Can’t wait til they sign Steven Caulker on loan.
