Ruto’s moments in Kisumu bring out the genius in him again!

Deputy President William Ruto is a real hustler and the man knows how to hunt for his following and take control whenever he gets half a chance, even in the worst of environments.

He was at it in Kisumu on Thursday 13th December when the president and Raila Odinga were taking their handshake spirit to the people; speaking with confidence and good command of his traditional style of hyping the crowd.

In his speech, Ruto meddled into the delicate debate of whether he was supporting the handshake and assured the masses that those who wee saying otherwise were his detractors who were ell bent on falsehood amidst cheers from the crowd.

Ruto who kept referring to Raila as baba in his speech attracted cheers from the crowd and even pulled backwards to allow Raila to welcome the president both at the airport and during the respective functions did his calculations well to allow the two leaders to shine while he remained relevant throughout.v

Ruto also got an opportunity to bring out his strength and glimpse of the various senior officials in government as he introduced almost the entire list of CSs, PSs and CASs with little strain during the main function; something which many watch with amazement.

In his usual humorous manner, Ruto assured that he would be present throughout the Raila-Uhuru friendship and would hope to be a major beneficiary in the near future – a signal that he is hopeful of getting support from the Luo Nyanza region.

On his part Uhuru said the spirit of the handshake was there to stay even for hundred years. He said they were determined to do away with the winner-takes-it all mentality that comes after every election; that all Kenyan communities were entitled to an equitable share of jobs and other national resources.

The President urged Kenyans to unite against graft, saying that it is time for all ‘thieves to be accorded same treatment’ under the law.
