Here is Mourinho’s plan ahead of the Champions League clash

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has hinted at handing Sergio Romero and Andreas Pereira a starting role against Valencia in the final group H Champions League match.

United head into the clash having already qualified with a game to spare. It is very unlikely that Juventus will drop a point against Young Boys so the game is likely to be more than a formality for the Red Devils.

Mourinho’s side will progress to the last 16 regardless of the Wednesday’s result. With United set to face Liverpool over the weekend, Mourinho is likely to use the game to give fringe players an opportunity and rest the key players.

“We need to rest players. These last two matches, Arsenal and today, today was really strong. We go to Valencia there are some that need to rest, some need to play. A question of trust and a question of justice too. So if I saw Romero plays, or he deserves to play,” said Mourinho.

“If I say a kid that is working like a tiger and is not playing much like Andreas Pereira is going to have a start, I’m going to make changes in the team because we have qualified.”
