DP William Ruto is a man on a mission. The mission is to occupy State House come what may. In his quest to be president, he has created several enemies along the way.
Rut has been branded names, called the most corrupt Kenyan and recently, he has seen most of his Kalenjin kinsmen arrested over corruption allegations. It is a tight walk ahead of 2022.
But Ruto has been defended by a very unlikely person. Someone who may be running against him in 2022.
Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has come out to say the bearer of the DP’s office is always constantly fought.
“I was the 10th Vice President, but we have had only four presidents. Being a Vice President or Deputy President is really a slippery business,” said Kalonzo.
“When you hold that office, you are severely fought, pulled down, dragged all over and all other dangerous episodes just to bar you from inheriting the presidency.”
Speaking in Busia County on Sunday during a harambee for Kolait Catholic sub-parish in Teso South, Kalonzo said that although the 2022 debate is healthy, it should not outshine service delivery to Kenyans.
Kalonzo further said he is keeping his options open for any political realignments in the run up to the 2022 General Election.
He urged President Uhuru Kenyatta and relevant government agencies to continue with the war on graft, adding that those ethnicizing the fight should be “forgiven.”
Kalonzo, who recently declared himself the president’s errand boy. was appointed head of the South Sudan Peace Envoy.
