Sorry Shujaa 7’s Off to a Bad Start at the Cape Town Sevens

When did the rain start beating the Kenya 7’s rugby team?

After a poor showing last time out at the Dubai 7’s the team kick-started it’s Cape Town 7’s campaign on a rather wrong foot loosing it’s opening Pool C match 29-12 to England.

Dan Norton claimed a hat-trick of tries for England while Phil Burgess had one. Kenya replied through Cyprian Kuto and Leonard Mugaisi whose try was unconverted.

Kenya will next face Fiji at 3:20pm before later taking on France at 6:41pm local time.

Kenya and Fiji were in the same pool in Dubai and the Fijians cruised to a 43-12 win. Shujaa’s last game of the day will be against France (6.41pm), another side they faced in the preliminary stage in Dubai, going down 21-19.

The poor showing in Dubai was Kenya Sevens’ worst ever performance since the Paris 7s leg of the 2016/2017 World Rugby Sevens Series, where they collected one point after losing in the semi-final for 13th place.

This was the first time Shujaa failed to win a match in the pool stage since the 2014/2015 season at the Dubai, South Africa and Hong Kong Sevens.

It was also the first time Kenya failed to win a match in the Series since the London Sevens leg of the 2011/2012 season.

What do you think is the solution to the team’s poor run of form?
