Kenya Power MD Joe Sang, who was arrested by detectives on Friday, is looking at spending a very long time in prison if he is found guilty of three serious charges that DPP Noordin Haji has preferred against him.
The DPP released a statement on Friday afternoon saying Sang and five others will faces charges in relation to the construction of the Kisumu Oil jetty project.
The case involves allegations of misappropriation of public funds in the KPC’s procurement and construction of the jetty at a cost of at least Sh2 billion.
The three charges are:
i. Abuse of office
ii. Willful failure to comply with applicable procedures and laws relating to management of public funds.
iii. Engaging in a project without prior planning.

The DPP said that he has sufficient evidence to support the various charges. Mr Sang resigned three days ago, saying it was for personal reasons. His term was to end in April.
The other five are Gloria Rabai Khafafa (Company Secretary), Vincent Korir Cheruiyot (General Manager, Supply Chain), Billy Letunya Aseka (General Manager, Infrastructure), Nicholas Gitobu (Procurent Manager) and Samuel Odoyo (General Manager, Finance).
