Boniface Oluoch Star’s as Gor Mahia Subdue Nyasa’s Big Bullets to Progress in CAF Championships

Gor Mahia is through to the next round of the CAF champions after thumping Malawi’s Nyasa Big Bullets on penalties in a return leg clash played at Kamuzu Stadium. Gor Mahia won the match 4-3 on Penalties.

Nyasa Big Bullets took the lead in the second half courtesy of a Msowoya Volley in the 55th minute but Gor Mahia was able to hold them until the 88th minute when Msowoya won a penalty that seemed to all but seal Gor Mahia’s fate.

This was not to be as Kogallo’s Custodian Boniface Oluoch was able to save the spot-kick hence making the match end 1-0 in normal time but 1-1 on aggregate meaning the match had to be decided on penalties.

Shakava, Ondieki, Mieno and Boniface Oluoch all scored their penalties to help Gor Mahia cruise to the next round of the CAF championships.

Boniface Oluoch was again the star of the show as he saved a Penalty to help Gor Mahia move to the next round.

Gor Mahia won the first leg in Nairobi 1-0, courtesy of an injury time winner by Bernard Ondiek.

Gor Mahia needed a win or draw of any kind to take them through to the next round.

History favoured Gor Mahia in this one, they have successfully defended 1-0 first leg wins on 6 occasions in CAF competitions and failed to advance on only in three occasions.

Congratulations Gor Mahia.
