Why Jose Mourinho refused to provide injury update before Arsenal

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has refused to offer an injury update to the media ahead of his side’s clash with Arsenal.

The Portuguese coach refused to update the club’s TV channel on team news because Arsenal keep squad news under wraps. However, Mourinho did hint that he would be making significant changes to his side to face the Gunners.

Mourinho told MUFC TV:“Looking to next match I say we are going to be in difficulties to build a team.

We are going to have to make adaptations, compensations to give some balance to the team.I believe we will have the spirit to fight and win the match.

When a suggestion was made by a reporter that the team news perhaps wasn’t great, Mourinho replied:

“No. I don’t want to update you, I would like Arsenal TV to make the same questions, but they don’t.

“They hide everything from the inside, so why should I answer to you so why should I give anything to you.”

Mourinho has also admitted that the club currently sat in seventh is not good enough.

However, he is confident of finishing above Everton, who are currently sat sixth, come the end of the season.

Mourinho said:

“I can agree Manchester United should never be in seventh.

“In spite of the phenomenal investment Everton made and obviously the great improvement in their team from last season.

“But I don’t think Everton is going to be in front of Manchester United by the end of the season.

“I think clearly everybody knows that there are six teams that should all of them stay in the first six positions.”
