Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg has given his verdict on Arsenal vs Tottenham officiating a game where the Gunners registered a 4-2 win over their London rivals.

Clattenburg says Tottenham’s equalizing goal should not have counted adding that Mike Dean should not have given Spurs a penalty.

Mark, currently a Canadian director, producer and screenwriter said Son Heung-min dived to get the penalty as Rob Holding made no contact with the Spurs ace.

“Mike Dean should not have allowed either of Tottenham’s goals. Eric Dier was just offside when Christian Eriksen whipped over the freekick for 1-1. And Son Heung-min dived for Spurs’ penalty. Rob Holding lunged into a tackle but made no contact with Son,” said Clattenburg.

“But Dean deserves credit for spotting Jan Vertonghen’s handball for Arsenal’s penalty and rightly sent him off for a foul on Alexandre Lacazette,” he added.

Dean was criticized when the appointment was made for his history with both clubs before getting himself back into the good books of the Emirates faithful. Club supporters were left shocked by Mike Dean’s decision to award the hosts a penalty during the scintillating North London Derby on Sunday.
