Domesticanimals can turn to Wild animals at tomes. Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) Joseph Riungu has put Crayfish Camp resort, Navaisha on the spot after his seven-year-old son was mauled by five dogs during an excursion. Joseph claims his son who was on a school trip was attacked by the dogs as he and his friends were walking back to their rooms at around 6pm on November, 28 2018.

It isunderstood three German Shepherds and two other dogs attacked his boy before he arrived at his room. “My son was walking back to the rooms to pick his clothes at around 6pm. He was in the company of his friends when the dogs pounced on him. They were three large German Shepherd dogs and two others, ” Joseph opened up.

The Assistant DPP further explained no apologies have been made by the hotel’s administration. “They have not apologised over the incident neither have they reached out to me. They have even refused to take responsibility claiming the dogs were friendly,” he explained. The boy who is a pupil at Marion Preparatory School was admitted at Mp shah Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

Joseph recorded a statement at Kongoni Police Station, Navaisha. The Directorate of Criminal investigations has taken up the issue and is carrying out investigations. The Hotel management through Jimmy Mehta has described the incident as just an accident.

“This is an isolated incident as it has never happened before. We are very sorry about what happened. There is nothing to hide as we have always had dogs here,” he said.

Mehta further claims contrary to reports, the management took the child to a local hospital for treatment. “We took the child to Kimilili hospital and we got in touch with the parents immediately after the attack but instead of coming to the hotel, they rushed to Nairobi,” he said. The management also stated they would soon reach out to the boy’s parents as they understand the genesis of their anger.
