Case against rogue Ambira Boys caught on camera insulting Matiang’i withdrawn

The rogue boys from Ambira High school who were caught on camera hurling all manner of unprintables towards Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi have been handed some reprieve after the DPP dropped the charges against them.

Reports received say that the 16 boys would be released later on Monday, December 3 as the DPP decided to let go of the case for ‘lack of evidence’.

This is despite the fact that a video went viral for the better part of Friday, November 23 showing the students using inappropriate language to relay some sort of message to Matiangi and Education CS Amina Mohammed.

The decision to release the boys came amid a heavy division of public opinion on what was the best form of punishment for a set of boys who were just on the verge of adulthood.

Sections of Kenyans felt the candidates should have been let off with a warning because they were acting out of the excitement of completing their secondary school education.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had himself spoken on the embarrassing incident with a stern warning to the boys, adding that they would face the full force of the law. The students hurled the insults while in the school compound as they burned what appeared to be their study materials after competing their KCSE exams.
