Manchester United fans were less than happy with their team’s performance against Southampton on Saturday evening – but one player was singled out for particular condemnation.
Paul Pogba was lacklustre in midfield, particularly in a second half where United failed to show the drive, quality and goal threat required to break a 2-2 deadlock with one of the Premier League’s most out-of-form teams.
I won’t let let the fact that @RomeluLukaku9 had a gazillion appalling first touches blind me from the fact that @paulpogba had dozens of those too and epic lapses of concentration sprinkled with useless showboating fails #SOUMUN

The French World Cup winner’s inconsistency has been one of the most frustrating aspects of United’s under-par season so far, and after being anonymous again at St Mary’s fans didn’t hold back in their criticism.
Jose Mourinho made a host of changes to his side amid a sudden defensive crisis that saw Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly ruled out before the game. Pogba lined up in a three man midfield alongside Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini.
Time to sell @paulpogba, the twat is just too inconsistent and doesn’t even look arsed. Drops a 2/10 most weeks. Get rid. Not the type of player we need. A luxury we can’t afford.

However, Mourinho raised concerns post-match about the lack of continuity between his midfield and attack, and United fans were quick to question Pogba’s role in the game.
United had fallen 2-0 behind for the fourth time this season, but goals from Romelu Lukaku and Herrera earned a point.
