Mesut Ozil backed to RUN RINGS around one Tottenham star

Arsenal news: Ex-Spurs ace backs Mesut Ozil to RUN RINGS around one Tottenham star

That’s the verdict of former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas. Moussa Dembele’s injury has seen Sissoko handed an extended run in the side.

And the midfielder has finally begun to replicate his international form for Tottenham.

Gunners legend Ian Wright was impressed with Sissoko’s display in the 3-1 win over Chelsea. But Jenas thinks Ozil will be far superior in the frenetic atmosphere of the north London derby.

“Moussa Sissoko has looked really good and physical in the past week,” Wright said to The Times.

Jenas replied: “If you were Ozil you would think “I can run rings around him”, surely?

Wright countered with: “If you give Ozil time, Jermaine.

“If you get into his face, he will have a problem. Arsenal can’t afford to carry Ozil.”

Arsenal boss Unai Emery dropped Ozil for the recent 2-1 win away to Bournemouth.

And Jenas thinks the Spanish manager is sending a message to all his players that no one is untouchable.

“Ozil has been in complete control whether playing well or not,” he said.

“If he’s been fit, he’s played. If I was a player in that dressing-room I would say to him, look at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The striker has not been guaranteed to start. If Alexandre Lacazette plays, Aubameyang will be on the left-hand side.

“Aubameyang has been happy to facilitate that so that both can play. That has transformed Arsenal more than anything. All of a sudden there are no players who can’t be touched.”

Emery is likely to change all 11 players from the team who beat Vorslka 3-0 on Thursday.
