This season’s South American Libertadores Cup final is played between the two giants of the Argentine League, Boca Juniors and the River Plate. The two teams meet for the first time in the Libertadores Cup final. The first round was held in Boca Juniors home La Bombonera stadium, and the two sides reached a draw in 2-2.

The second round was scheduled to take place at the River Plate home stadium, Estadio Monumental, on November 25th, but the game was postponed several times because the River Plate fans have attacked Boca Juniors team bus before the second round game. Boca players were attacked when they took the bus from the hotel to the stadium. Two windows were broken by River Plate fans with throwing objects. The police accidentally injured Boca players while dispelling fans with pepper spray. Two players were injured in the eye and many Boca players was not feeling well.

In the end, the South American Football Association decided to postpone the second round until December, and the venue was not in Argentina, but changed to the Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid, Spain.

However, this decision seems to have caused dissatisfaction from both teams. The Boca Juniors announced an appeal. They said that the South American Football Association’s ruling on this matter did not meet their demands, and the River Plate subsequently issued an official statement to appeal as well.
