Head of Civil Service and Secretary to the Cabinet Erick Onchana was arrested on Tuesday for not paying a former employee who had won a suit against government.
Well clearly life in jail is not a joke ask Jowie.
Onchana has now come out to narrate his 15hr stay at the police cell after been arrested and escorted to Nyamira Police Station.
According to the Head of Civil Servant, “I thought that the matter would be settled only to spend and entire night there. It isn’t an experience you’d wish to encounter more so when you’re a law abiding citizen.
In addition he said, “I slept on the floor though they provided me with a mattress. It’s such a horrible experience. I am glad that I managed to secure bond.”
Onchana was released on bond of Ksh 200, 000 at Kericho Magistrate court, then rearrested again on grounds that he had not cleared advocate Steve Mogaka’s legal fee.
However lawyer Jones Nyachiro managed to argue in his favour before getting out of cells for the second time in as many hours.
Mr Onchana was initially arrested over debts owed by the county to former Kisii Town Mayor Alloys Moseti, who the court ruled that was illegally dismissed from county government.
Despite the county hastily paying Sh1.6 million, Mr Onchana will now have to handle contempt of court charges that were initiated on Wednesday.
