The issue of teenage pregnancies in Kenya is just getting overboard. The number of predators ready to feast on young blood is just on the rise each and every day.
Several measures have been raised on the appropriate means to curb this menace. Some MPs have proposed some extreme measures to ensure that the habit is brought at halt.
Moses Wetangula and Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi have proposed the castration of those predators who capitalize on the school going children to fulfill their sexual thirst.
The government though is still trying to figure out the best shot to call that will end this menace. Meanwhile CS Amina Mohammed has also formed a task force to look into the matter to come up with appropriate measures to help fight the vice.
George Magoha, the Kenya National Examinations Council boss, wants pornography sites blocked in the country.
According to him, such websites are to blame for the spiraling cases of teenage pregnancies reported during the national exams.
“Getting pregnant when you are not ready is primitive and a sign of moral decadence and negligence from parents,” Magoha said.
He further registered his disappointment with the country’s leaders accusing them of not talking to girls about family planning.
The KNEC boss even alluded to the same leaders allegedly cheering on for people to ‘multiply and fill the earth’.
Magoha reiterated calls for introduction of lessons on sexual education in schools.
This measures are meant to ensure that the education system is streamlined and that early and unprepared cases of pregnancies are prevented.
