Will Manchester United sack Jose Mourinho?

Jose Mourinho’s future at Manchester United is not looking excitingly bright at the moment. The Red devils manager is already pointing fingers at the mess that is English Football’s most successful club and blaming it on the players. It’s something we’ve all come to witness in his previous relationships, kind of like a ‘ It’s not you, it’s me’, only that Mourinho’s is the inverted version.

Friday pre-Palace press briefing saw him label a section of his squad as ‘spoilt brats’. United went on to play out a drab draw with the relegation threatened Londoners, much to the surprise of nobody who has watched Manchester United play this season.

Ahead of Tuesday’s visit of Young Boy’s on Champions League Matchday 5, Mourinho has accused his players of sabotaging him during matches.

“I want the team to start strong, go strong on the opposition, not to be waiting,” he said.

“Probably you [the media] or the fans think Jose told them to start slow and play nice and easy or to be waiting for them to react. It is exactly the opposite. I want the team to go immediately and it is a bit frustrating.”

The draw at Palace confirmed Jose Mourinho’s third season at the club as one in which they made their worst ever start to a Premier League season. To paint matters in a more clearer manner, United’s goal difference is a healthy -1.

The United manager accused his players of lacking “heart and desire” during the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday and he does not want a repeat performance against the Swiss champions.

Yet despite all their woes, United could still advance to the round of 16 with a win over the Swiss Champions, provided Valencia fail to come up with a win against Juventus.

What is however clear is Manchester United need a managerial upgrade, results thus far are proof enough. Will Ed Woodward act?
