Do you believe someone has a sinister motive while pushing for the gender bill in parliament?
According to political strategist Mutahi Ngunyi, there is a plan to dissolve parliament by the Chief Justice Maraga urging the Members of parliament to pass is as soon as it lands.
However, Kenyans seem not to be scared and are celebrating the said move terming it a solution to the long lasting problem of greedy parliamentarians who have forgotten the needs of the people.
If the GENDER BILL does not pass, Article 261 of the constitution gives POWERS to Maraga to DISSOLVE Parliament. Given his HISTORY, Maraga WILL DISSOLVE Parliament. MPs should be AFRAID. Very AFRAID. https://t.co/VrAiSCGNdS #GenderBill

No parliament will be dissolved. Not in Kenya. #GenderBill is a useless bill that should be done away with. We must actually #AbolishArticle81B

So will the MPs pass the #GenderBill out of genuine interest for EQUALITY and CONSTITUTIONALISM or out of fear of DISSOLUTION? My guess is as good as yours

The constitution does not provide for the dissolution of parliament on account of the failure to enact the 2/3 gender rule. The dissolution is envisaged where parliament fails to implement article 81 in 5 years. The article requires parliament to show efforts and suggest ways.

Parliament should deal with the gender bill soberly. There’s no threat of parliament being dissolved because the constitution does not give such a threat.

(7) If Parliament fails to enact legislation in accordance with an order under clause (6) (b), the Chief Justice shall advise the President to dissolve Parliament and the President shall dissolve Parliament.

this bill is only workable on appointments, on elective positions i have really never understood why we have more women voters than men yet they cant vote for their own. All those nomination slots are being created for girlfriends of politicians… its so annoying.

Why dissolve parliament? because the parliament does not meet the parameters set by the constitution….So why reject the bill if it is one vital object of the constitution…..Most important legal document in the land….The bill should pass!…#GenderBill
