City pastor dragged to court by Nairobi businesswoman demanding KSh 100k child upkeep

A city pastor is in trouble after a woman she impregnated out of wedlock took him to court for neglecting to support her provide for their one-year-old baby’s upkeep. Caleb Chito Njeria of Jesus Lives Ministries in Hurlingham was sued a woman identified only as Hawa for neglecting the baby and could part with at least KSh 100,000 every month as child upkeep fee if court grants the complainant’s request.

According to court documents perused by our sources , Hawa said she got into the affair with Njeria in May 2015, conceived and delivered a baby in June 2017. Hawa said she was left on her own by the sire of the child who refused to take care of his responsibility. “I have been left with the herculean task of singly providing for the child’s daily needs and shelter from my meagre income,” the woman pleaded. The woman is demanding KSh 100,000 from the married pastor every month as child upkeep. The amount has been broken down to KSh 70,000 for monthly rent , KSh 15,000 medical expenses, KSh 10,000 house help salary and KSh 5,000 to cater for baby’s clothes.

I n his defence, Njeria a Chief Metereologist at Kenya Meteorological Department said he could not afford the expenses because he was not a man of means. “I am not in business and earn a net salary of KSh 20,790.00. I am not a man of means but just a mere meteorologist. I have six children with my wife and I spend KSh 346,000 on school fees every year,” he stated in his response to the plaint. The cleric said he was deeply in debt as he survived on loans to provide for his family saying the woman’s demands were unreasonable. ” The woman is trying to extort me because she has two other children with other men. I have shared my position with the applicant but she is hell bent on making me suffer. I am willing to pay KSh 5,000 monthly child upkeep until the paternity of the child is established.
