How ODM plans to deal with rebellion in the party

Family is one of the most important units in life. However betrayal disagreements can really cause bad blood that can awaken feuds to an unpredictable extents.

In politics,ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna today said that the party only recognizes Philip Makabongo and Joseph Olala as its chairperson and Organising Secretary respectively in Migori County.

This is after Organising Secretary Joseph Nyambori and Festos Mapesa on Monday claimed that they are the bonafide holders of the official positions in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party in Migori.

Mr. Sifuna said that the party is not aware of Festos Mapesa and Joseph Nyambori as the party’s Migori chair and organising secretary.

Mapesa and Nyambori are also among other ODM party members who have been recommended for expulsion by the ODM disciplinary Committee in Migori.

The rest include Migori Governor Okoth Obado and Masaba Ward MCA Abedi Maroa.

The Migori County ODM disciplinary committee, chaired by Joseph Muniko last week tabled a report before the county coordinating committee recommending the expulsion of the four under claims that they are not loyal to the party.

They had been accused of gross misconduct and violation of the party rules.

The committee also stated that Governor Obado has continuously been disobedient, further accusing him of openly opposing the party in the recent Migori senatorial by-election by backing a rival candidate.

“He has embarrassed the party and the party leader… he has also been campaigning for another candidate outside of the party… we summoned him to come yet he ignored all sittings,” the committee chairperson Joseph Muniko said.

The county coordinating committee was led by Philip Makabongo and Joseph Olala as the chairperson and secretary respectively.

Nyatike Sub-county ODM chairperson, Peter Kainda has on the other hand asked the party’s top office to take action against those purporting to be ODM officials in Migori County.

Six Suna East ODM party officials that were suspended vowed not to relinquish their positions claiming the leaders behind their ouster have no powers to do so.

Awhile back Mapesa asked those involved in their suspension to apologise within fourteen days saying that going public about their suspension is an assassination of character.

His statement was echoed by his deputy William Nyakwaka and the sub county youth leaders Philip Anguko who maintained that they will continue to serve in their positions in the party.

The party officials claim that those behind their removal are against their reception to Governor Okoth Obado in Suna East at Alara Polytechnic early this month.
