Joey Muthengi shocked many of her fans and followers when she abruptly quit last week. There had been some murmurings the week prior that all was not well between the beautiful presenter and Citizen TV but it still surprised many when she resigned. But the world moves fast and we are already looking at who will replace the sassy and savvy hostess of the show?
Early reports indicate that senior NTV anchor and associate producer Trevor Ombija, who has just resigned from NTV might be the one to take her place.
According to SDE Ombija may be headed to Royal Media after six years with NTV:
YES, IT IS TRUE, I DON’T KNOW HOW IT LEAKED AND TOMORROW IS MY LAST DAY AT NTV. THE MEDIA INDUSTRY IS CHANGING AND PEOPLE CHANGE TOO. I HAVE WORKED AT NTV FOR OVER FIVE YEARS.
Ombija would be a knowledgeable replacement but a host like Joey would be hard to replace and Trevor himself harbours no such illusions as he explained:
I WOULD NOT WANT TO USE THE WORD REPLACE. YOU CAN NEVER REALLY REPLACE ANYONE. EVERYONE BRINGS THEIR EXPERTISE AND UNIQUENESS.
Every show must go on. When Larry Madowo left the Trend last year many wondered who would/could fill in the big boy shoes that he had? But Amina Abdi made the show her own and I can now say; “Larry who?” Life goes on, a fact we must all accept.
