Matteo Darmian will NOT be allowed to leave on the cheap.
That’s according to the Evening Standard, who claim Manchester United want to recoup the £12.7million they paid Torino in 2015.
The Red Devils agreed to sell Darmian during the transfer window – but unexpected injuries to Antonio Valencia and Diogo Dalot spoiled his plans.
The Italian right-back is out of contract in the summer, but United have the option to trigger a 12-month extension if he stays in January.
Manchester United have opened talks with Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Ashley Young about extending their contracts.
The trio are out-of-contract in June and will be eligible to sign pre-contract agreements with other clubs.
Sky Sports report that United would like to keep their first-team players at Old Trafford and want the deals done before January.
