Gor Mahia Maintain Foward Will Stay

Kenya Premier League Champions Gor Mahia have moved with speed to refute speculations that their Ivorian hit-man Ephraim Guikan is on his way out of the club. Kogallo have made it clear that they have not released Ivorian striker Ephraim Guikan.

Guikan failed to command a starting place in the Dylan Kerr squad and was used sparingly, mostly as a substitute but still managed to score over 13 goals for the Kenyan Champions last season.

The striker was signed by the Kenyan Champions from Mauritius’ AS Port Louis 2000,was rumored to be on his way out after asking for a release letter. The player also took to his social media account to castigate one of the club officials for ruining his career at the club.

Gor’s Deputy Secretary General Ronald Ngala last month confirmed that the forward was on his way out.

“Guikan is leaving, he requested for release for personal reasons and we had no alternative but to grant him his wish. We have rushed to sign Erisda Sekisambu as his replacement before the new season.

“We have not released any other player; we will make some decisions after the match against Everton. As it is, everyone else is with us.” said Ngala.

Gor Mahia CEO Omondi Aduda has now come out to confirm that Guikan still has a running contract that will end in 2019 and is at the club to stay.

“Who said that Guikan had left Gor Mahia? Guikan is still at Gor Mahia. He has a running contract until 2019 and unless a team comes for his services and we agree terms, he remains part of our plans,” said Aduda.

Gor Mahia have already done a number of transfer activities this window with Kenneth Muguna making a return, Shafik Batambuze signing from Singinda United and Nicholas Kipkirui from Zoo Kericho.

They have also managed to renew the contract of keeper Boniface Oluoch as they get ready to feature in the Caf Champions League where they have been drawn against Nyasa Big Bullets of Malawi.

Gor Mahia will host the Malawian league leaders on 27/28 November before the return leg a week later at the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

If Guikan stays, he will compete for a starting place against Jack Tuyisenge and new signee Erisda Sekisambu
