Raila meets Migori Leaders But a familiar face is missing

ODM leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday met with leaders from Migori County at his Capital Square Office, the leaders were led by newly elected Senator Ochillo Ayacko.

But conspicuously missing was the embattled governor Okoth Obado, who had earlier on received unwanted visitors from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

According to the former Prime Minister, the Migori leaders briefed him about issues in their County.

Raila’s office did not reveal any other information about the meeting, but one of the agendas surely had to be Obado.

The governor has been hosting an unwanted visitor in recent times, something that has not gone down well with local leaders. The visitor is non other than Deputy President William Ruto, who is ODM’s enemy in chief.

Ruto has visited Luo Nyanza, twice since Obado’s release. On Saturday, the two attended a Harambee at Nyabururu Catholic church in Kisii County, where the governor asked the congregation to pray for him so that he can get out of the crocodile’s mouth.

“If you pray for me, I will get out of the crocodile’s mouth,” he said referring to the double murder case he is facing in court.

Obado has been charged with the murder of his 26 year old girlfriend Sharon Otieno, and their unborn son. He recently spent 34 days at the Industrial Area Police Station before being released on a sh 5 million bond.

He has also publicly declared that he is willing to work with Ruto now and in future, leading to suggestions that he may even be chosen to be Ruto’s running mate in 2022.

“I would like you to condemn this so-called crocodile, which some people want to swallow me. Let us not allow this crocodile to eat us up. I am ready to work with the DP now and in future,” Obado told a gathering in Kuria.

He also accompanied Ruto to a marathon in honor of former Nyeri governor Wahome Gakuru in Nyeri on Sunday.

Does Raila’s meeting with Migori leaders spell doom for Obado?
