Who is the best goalkeeper in the world today? David de Gea or someone else?

Goalkeepers play a vital role in football matches as they are the last line of defense for their teams. Being a goalkeeper may be the toughest job in football. This is due to the fact that a goalkeeper could be called into action in a crucial moment after experiencing a long period of time without really having to make a save, which requires a higher level of concentration than other positions on the field. Today let’s have a look at the several best goalkeepers in the football world at the moment.

#6 Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid CF)

This season, Courtois moved from Chelsea to Real Madrid  in a deal worth  £35 million. He had excellent performances in 2018 Russia World Cup, winning the Golden Glove award for best goalkeeper. The only thing Courtois is good at is dealing with balls into the box. His height allows him to have an advantage of reaching balls into the box and catching crosses. Obviously he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

#5 Marc-André ter Stegen(FC Barcelona)

Ter Stegen has fantastic showings in both La Liga and the Champions League. Also, he has a chance of breaking Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper Francisco Liano’s 1994 clean sheet record, keeping 26 of them in one La Liga season.

#4 Manuel Neuer(Bayern Munich)

There are no doubts that Neuer is one of the most important members of not only Germany national team but also Bayern Munich. He has won a  Champions League at Bayern and FIFA World Cup with Germany national team. Also, he has won a lot of individual awards including several awards that are difficult to win, such as FIFA World Cup Golden Glove and UEFA Goalkeeper of the year.

#3 Gianluigi Buffon(Paris Saint-Germain)

Buffon has been a professional goalkeeper for more than 20 years. He is widely regarded by players, pundits and managers as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time. He won the FIFA World Cup with Italy national team in 2006 and was a legend at Juventus for having stayed with the club in spite of their relegation to Serie B that same year.

#2 David de Gea (Manchester United)

Manchester United and Spain custodian De Gea has excellent ability and potential. United stopper collected 18 Premier League clean sheets in 2017-18 winning the Golden Glove award for the first time in his career.

His World Cup in Russia wasn’t anywhere near the disaster some made outbut he certainly wasn’t at his best. However, Manchester United would be in far worse a position without him.

#1 Keylor Navas (Real Madrid CF)

He has fantastic performances at Real Madrid with his performances under the most powerful of microscopes every week, winning three Champions Leagues and one La Liga title. His job is not just to do his job but to do it with style. Being competent is not enough; he has to convince over and over again. Absolutely he deserves the best goalkeeper in the world.
