If you have ever undermined village elders, then you are damn wrong!! These are people that can save you at any given time, starting from family related issues to conflicts in the community. Do you think their services end there? They have proved to be of help beyond boundaries!

A teacher in Nyamira North subcounty on Wednesday narrowly escaped death after he was rescued by village elders from angry residents after allegedly defiling one of his pupils.

The teacher at a local primary school in the area was beaten by the angry residents after he confessed to defiling the 13-year-old girl.

Village elders and police came to the teacher’s rescue from the mob who wanted to lynch him.

The teacher was later taken to Magwagwa Police Station.

County Police Commander Catherine Mugo said the suspect will be arraigned in court after investigations are completed.

The girl’s elder brother said she had been sent to a local maize mill and failed to return home on Wednesday.

She was later found early Thursday morning in a nearby tea plantation.

The girl led her family to the teacher’s house where she had been forcefully detained and defiled on Wednesday night.

The girl was later taken to Ekerenyo subcounty hospital for treatment.

Kenyans on twitter have however asked the government to bring the teacher to book.

Defilement cases among school going children have been on the high rise thus raising eyebrows. What do you suggest should be done if people behind defilement are caught?
