Chelsea favorites to sign Premier League’s in form striker

One of the Premier League’s most in-form strikers is now on the radar of Maurizio Sarri and Chelsea according to The Mirror. Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson has started the season in fine fettle and is now on the brink of a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad, for the upcoming fixtures against the USA and Croatia.

The 26-year-old forward has been one of the most vibrant forwards in the league this season having already scored six goals and bagged four assists this seasons. He has lead the line in a brilliant Bournemouth side who are knocking on the door of the top six this season.

Having scored more goals than any other English striker in the Premier League this season, fans have been clamouring for his inclusion in Southgate’s next squad. But it is not just England who have been keeping an eye on the in-form man.

Chelsea have now stepped up their scouting of Wilson but will have to pay a big fee if they are to capture their man in January. Wilson extended his contract until 2022 at Bournemouth this summer and having spent four years with the Cherries already, he is unlikely to want to leave.

His young family are settled in the area having relocated from Coventry in 2014 but Chelsea would be a tempting prospect for the Bournemouth hotshot. Currently Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud are Chelsea’s two striking options and although the former is also in top form, Sarri would like more depth in that area.

Wilson’s pace would certainly provide a different option to both Morata and Giroud up top, but Bournemouth will drive a hard bargain.

Is this the reason why Morata has been scoring frequently of late? You know…just to fool Sarri till January then go back to doing what he does best which is missing absolute sitters? Time will tell.
