Meet the best built man among strong men in Kenya

Its such a cool thing to achieve your dreams right? Its also intriguing  and unique that you can focus on building your body and actually achieve a major goal in life. All one needs is a plan, determination, willingness to learn and the readiness like ‘Iron Shaffie’ to build the desired muscles.

Like he once envisioned, Majengo’s Gabriel “Iron Shaffie” Mukundi has claimed the title Mr Kenya 2018 Bodybuilding Champion.

“I am thrilled with the victory. I faced strong men but eventually, I proved I was the best built man compared to my opponents,” said Mukundi the darling of the crowd right from the weigh-in and prejudging exercise.

The 27 year old has pocketed Sh 100,000 for the overall prize revealing his focus is to contest for the Mr. Olympic title in his next endevour.

In a previous contest he also took home the title of the 2016 Mr. Kamukunji Talent search contest after which he had expressed his next goal as Mr Kenya.

“It’s a good start to my bodybuilding career. My next target is Mr Nairobi and ultimately Mr Kenya,” said Mukundi, who was declared the winner after beating Odhiambo, 30, and Otieno, 25, to second and third places respectively.

“I had an edge after presenting a well-balanced physique,” said Mukundi, who then planned to add more mass to be able to make an impact at forthcoming competitions. “My dream is to one day represent Kenya at big events and perhaps contest at Mr Olympic.”

The Mr Kenya event, which was at the Nairobi Hospital Convention Centre, saw Mukundi parade his best form and Physique that no doubt convinced the entire panel of experienced judges.

He had his form intact and his confidence was on top as he presented his best package before being crowned champion.

Kenya Body Building Federation (KBBF) Chairman Chris Omedo admitted the event was a success that could be owed to the fact that the contestants had enough time to get ready.“It seemed muscle men were well prepared for the event. As a federation, we gave the competitors enough time to adequately prepare for the competition,” said Omedo.

The chairman commended the athletes as well as the main sponsors USN for raising the standards of the sport.

Fellow contestants George Henry settled for the second position as Fred Sudhe claimed the third position whereas physique category, Joseph Oyatta was the winner while Evelyn Owalla won the figure award. Celestine Barasa won the Bikini award.
