‘Your services are not needed’ Fired Lopetegui,Real Madrid coach that lasted the shortest time under Florentino

Julen Lopetegui has become Real Madrid coach with the shortest reign in the Florentino Perez era after being sacked following the defeat by Levante on Saturday.

Vanderlei Luxemburgo had held the record for being dismissed quickest having lasted just four months into the season, and 340 days in total as he was appointed during the previous campaign. He was sacked on December 5th, 2005.

Jose Antonio Camacho,117 days, lasted a shorter time but he left on his own terms.

The numbers of Luxemburgo in 2005/06 were not good, and he only picked up 11 wins in 19 games between LaLiga Santander and the Champions League.

After his break as president, Perez entrusted Manuel Pellegrini with the job but the Chilean was removed after 358 days, and Jose Mourinho came next, lasting 1,097 days.

Carlo Ancelotti was the next in line and stayed for 698 days, winning the much-coverted tenth Champions League crown before handing over to Rafa Benitez.

The Spaniard spent just 215 days on the bench, leaving the role for Zinedine Zidane to come in and take over for 878 days.

The decision by Florentino Perez was a controversial one to begin with as Lopetegui was in charge of Spain at the time.

And on the eve of the World Cup, he was axed from the national hotseat for his lack of respect.

Things have not gone well for him since, and he has paid for a string of shocking results with his job. Real Madrid endured a miserable run of five games without a win earlier this month.

The streak included four defeats and saw them break a club record of 481 minutes without a goal.

A statement from the club read: “The Board of Directors of Real Madrid CF, meeting today October 29, 2018, has agreed to terminate the contract that linked coach Julen Lopetegui with the club.

“This decision, adopted from the highest level of responsibility, aims to change the dynamics of the first team, when all the objectives of this season are still achievable.”

Antonio Conte is the hotfavouriteto take over from 52-year-old, but Roberto Martinez and Santiago Solari could also be given the job.

The Italian won the Premier League in his first season with Chelsea before beating Manchester United in last season’s FA Cup final.

Now we all have to wait n hope this tome Perez will choose a better coach.
