Klopp responds to ‘lively’ Warnock’s Liverpool claim

Jurgen Klopp is looking forward to his first meeting with Neil Warnock, saying the Cardiff manager “looks like a character”.

Buoyed by their first win in the Premier League last week, Warnock takes his side to Anfield on Saturday for a match that the bluesbirds boss reckons is “virtually impossible” to win.

Klopp responded to that claim at his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

“It would be cool if that was the truth and they will try everything,” said the Reds boss.

“He is one of the most experienced managers in the world – he can do what he wants in the Championship!

“He looks like a character – a very emotional and lively person.

“I saw the final period of the Championship last season and they showed up. They weren’t the best team in that league but they deserved it in the end. It was really impressive what they did.

“I am looking forward to meeting him. He is obviously very talented vocal-wise.

“It will be a big pleasure to meet him.

He has also promised Divock Origi a chance in the Liverpool side if he continues to impress him with his “outstanding” attitude

The Reds striker gas been on the fringe of Klopp’s squad and only in the past week has he made the substitutes’ bench for the clashes with Huddersfield and Red Star.

It seemed certain that Origi would be on the move in January but Klopp insists the 23-year-old is doing all he needs to earn a chance in the first team.

“He is a good example for players who aren’t involved,” said Klopp ahead of the visit of Cardiff.

“He has been outstanding.

“Dom Solanke is in a good moment but he isn’t playing, like Nathaniel Clyne and Alberto Moreno.

“You can only play really good football when you train well and everyone is.

“Joel Matip will play in 97 percent of Premier League and Bundesliga clubs but he was not in the squad last time out.

“If the boys continue to train like they have done, they will have their moments.”
