Forget Fort Ternan , Narok-Mai Mahiu accident claims more Children

Few weeks ago Kenyans woke up to the sad news where 56 passengers were killed in a road accident involving a PSV bus  on the Londiani-Muhoroni highway.

The bus was on its way to Kakamega from Nairobi at the time of the accident few kilometres from Fort Ternan an area characterised by winding steep slopes, stretching for kilometres.

Kericho County Police Commander James Mogera  indicated that the death toll was 50 — among them 31 men, 12 women and seven children.

But even before kenyans are over the past ,Five more people have perished in grisly road accident along the  Narok-Mai Mahiu . According to the  Police , a 14-seater matatu rammed into a lorry .

Some of the passengers said to have lost their lives are school children.

The matatu belonging to Transline Classic company collided with a lorry that was carrying fish.

A truck fitted with a drilling rig was also seen at the scene of the accident.

Local residents who gathered at the scene could not hide their shock as they stared at the wreckage and fish that had spilled onto the road.

This comes barely a month after another accident on the Narok-Mai Mahiu road.

At least 60 people escaped death by a whisker after a bus they were traveling in caught fire at Pinyiny area.

Narok County Police Commander Thomas Ngeiywa said the Migori-bound bus burst into flames at around 2am shortly after having a tyre burst.

The police commander said the fire may have been caused by a mechanical problem on the bus belonging to Habari Njema Connection Company

And in January this year, 15 people were injured after three cars collided at Siyabei on the Narok-Mai Mahiu highway.

Narok OCPD Joseph Kisombe said the 3pm accident involved a saloon car, a PSV and a lorry.

The saloon car developed mechanical problems at Siyabei hills and the driver lost control of his vehicle ramming into the PSV behind him.
