Details: Why Margaret Kenyatta Is Uhuru’s only loyal friend

First Lady of the Republic of Kenya, Margaret Kenyatta has proved to be the President’s ‘wingman’ as she is on the forefront of ensuring that President Kenyatta’s Big 4 Agenda becomes a reality. As part of the President’s Big 4 Agenda, universal health coverage for every Kenyan is at the core.

Today, the First Lady officially launched new cancer machines;  the ultra-modern Positron Emission Tomography (PET) CT scanner and Cyclotron from GE Healthcare, at the Agakhan University Hospital. The PET CT machine is a molecular imaging system that gives an accurate indication of the progress of cancer in its earliest stages meaning that clinicians can now confidently assess a patient’s response to cancer treatment and therefore reduce the amount of time spent on unnecessary procedures and cost of treatment.

Yesterday, the First Lady  presided over the official opening of Mother Kevin Light House wing at the St. Francis Community Hospital in Kasarani where she also launched specialized healthcare services.

The new wing of the hospital run by the Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi of the Catholic Church was constructed at a cost of Ksh. 263 million and offers a wide range of services including specialized surgeries, dialysis, physiotherapy, pediatrics, ICU and HDU facilities.

The First Lady emphasized that access to quality and affordable healthcare is a fundamental right for all citizens.

Last week, Margaret Kenyatta officially opened the Margaret Kenyatta Mother Baby Wing at the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital in Nakuru County, the biggest of its kind in the country after Nairobi’s Pumwani Maternity Hospital.

The newly opened Margaret Kenyatta Mother Baby Wing was named after the First Lady for he commitment and dedication to end child mortality in Kenya. The maternity wing offers a child clinic, immunization, comprehensive maternity care and family planning services.

Margaret Kenyatta founded Beyond Zero, a foundation that seeks to improve maternal and prenatal healthcare in the country by ensuring that there are zero deaths for both the mother and child during birth. It is obvious to even Jubilee government naysayers that the First Lady is passionate and dedicated to bettering the health sector in Kenya.

Uhuru should just appoint Margaret Kenyatta Cabinet Secretary Health. Yes? No?
