Following the appointment of Raila Odinga as African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa. William Ruto shared with him a congratulatory message which was not quite unexpected by Kenyans. Judging from the comments, Kenyans were impressed that for once Ruto has applauded Raila’s moves since the handshake.

The two have had political differences even after the handshake deal; Deputy President William Ruto had earlier claimed that Rails Odinga had the intentions of pushing him out of the Jubilee Party.
The message from the Deputy President attracted a heated conversation as some were stating that William Ruto could now be the happiest and celebrating this appointed since it has created a leeway for his 2022 political ambition to the State House.
The new position held by Rail a Odinga will either mean abandoning his political role or finding a balance. Although he has made it clear that he is currently working with the government which according to Kenyans has crippled the opposition.
As captured on the standard, Political risk analyst Dismas Mokua says in theory, with such an appointment Raila should now exit the local political space and stay focused on the infrastructure at the continental level.
