Kenyans on twitter could not hold back their comments after President Kenyatta happened to mention the Financial Bill during the SME conference that was held today at Strathmore.
President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered that the CS Energy, Charles Keter should review electricity charges in the next 1 month with a view to reduce cost specifically to the small and medium-sized enterprises. This move comes after his statement saying that the cost of electricity has truly gone up a concern that has been raised by Kenyans for quite some time.
The #SMEs community, represents 75% of the country’s workforce and this is the reason why President Kenyatta said there was a need to sit down and know how best we will respond to the industry. “We owe it to them” he stated.
According to President Kenyatta, the conference is intentional with its aim being the start of a new conversation about #SMEs in #Kenya: one that fully recognizes their hard work, innovation, and their contribution to the prosperity of the nation.
What attracted the reactions is when he mentioned that even though the Finance Bill has been passed Kenyans should think outside the box on how to make the economy work especially for small and medium-sized enterprises.
