More than thirty years later and it seems we have a reincarnation of the John Kiriamiti and Milly’s story on our hands. Here we are talking about the story of Jacque Maribe and her Bouncer boyfriend Joseph Irungu, alias Jowie.
The couple have been charged with the murder of Monica Kimani, which happened on the night of 19th September in her apartment in Lamuria Gardens along Denis Pritt road, Kilimani area.
In an affidavit filed to the high court and seen by this writer, Jacque has given detailed information on how she met her gangster boyfriend and the events that happened in the days after the crime.
According to the affidavit, Jacque met Jowie at a Jubilee Party function in the Bomas of Kenya in the run up to last year’s general election. If your memory serves you write, the journalist was the chief political reporter for the party in last year’s campaign a job that landed her the Prestigious Head of State Commendation (HSC). But it seems it also got her a ‘killer boyfriend’

The following is an excerpt from Jacque Maribe, about her relationship with Jowie.
“Joseph Kuria Irungu alias Jowie is my fiancé whom we got engaged in the month of June 2018.
The first time I met Jowie was in mid 2017 at a Jubilee Party function at Bomas of Kenya, and later at Kasarani, also in a Jubilee Party function.
At the time he used to work as VIP security (guard) for Madam Joyce Lay, the former Taita Taveta Woman Representative. He was residing in Buru Buru Phase III together with his two friends. Apart from the VIP security job, he was also working for a private military firm in Dubai.”
It has been established that Jowie, was not working for any military firm in hi Dubai. Jacque’s boyfriend was a security guard in a certain hotel in Dubai. He was fired for gross misconduct. Sources have it that he stole computers from his colleagues.
