The much anticipated America Music Awards were finally held in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. The event which recognizes outstanding talents in the music industry was filled with glamour and fashion.
Taylor Swift and Camila Cabello led in the list of the winners of the night both scoping four awards.
Taylor Swift scoped the Artist of The Year Award in a tightly contested category which had top names in the music industry including Drake , Imagine Dragons, Post Malone and Ed Sheeran.
Taylor Swift also surprised many by winning the Tour of The Year which was so much expected to be won by Beyonce and Jay-Z. Others also who were in the same category included Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran.
Taylor also bagged The Favorite Female Artist in Pop/Rock ahead of Camila Cabello and Cardi B. She finished the night by winning the Favorite Album,” Reputation.” She gave an inspiring acceptance speech and which she endorsed the Democrat Candidate. The speech which has since gone viral American giving different reactions about it.
Camila Cabello , who ditched Fifth Harmony to pursue her solo career was among the celebrities who walked home heads up after bagging four awards. New Artist of the Year was scooped by Camila ahead of the controversial sassy rapper Cardi B, the sensational singer Khalid ,Dua Lipa and XXXTENTACION.
Camila also won The Best Collaboration of The Year “Havana” in which she featured Young Thug. Havana placed Camila in the Top musical chats in America and the entire world. She managed to out smart Bruno Mars & Cardi B, ” Finesse” which was also in the higher chances of bagging the award.
“Havana,” also won the Video of The Year ahead of Drake’s God’s Plan which received a lot of views and comments by Drake’s supporters. This was also voted instead of “Bodak Yellow” by Cardi B.
Camila Cabello finished off the much anticipated awards by winning The Favorite Song-Pop/Rock again to her hit collaboration , ” Havana” thanks to Young Thug who made it also to be a hit.
Cardi B, who also in many categories managed to show off her flaws as she won the Favorite Artist -Rap/ Hip-Hop ahead of Drake who went home empty handed despite pulling an outstanding performance during the event in L.A. Cardi B also won the Favorite Song – Rap/ Hip-hop ,” Bodak Yellow( money moves).”
Post Malone also managed a smile after his album titled “beerbongs & bentleys” was voted as the Favorite Album- Rap / Hip- Hop category.
Khalid who is well known for his song ” love lies” featuring Normani won the Favorite Male Artist Soul/R&B ahead of Bruno Mars and the Weekend.
Ella Mai was the most disappointed artist of the night as the Favorite Female Artist Soul & R&B went to Rihanna who has been in the industry for quite a while. Ella Mai has been on the rise in the America Music industry and this year she has been on upward scale on her music career.
Shawn Mendes did not walk home empty handed as they received the Favorite Artist – Adult Contemporary. Migos also won the Favorite Duo or Group – Pop/ Rock.
The favorite sound track went to the “Black Panther”: The Album. The movie which celebrated the African culture received recognition.
