Maribe’s detention for more days raises debate

Kenyans have reacted to the move by court to detain Tv anchor Jacque Maribe until Monday. This came after the order given by the DPP Noordin Haji for Maribe and Irungu to be arraigned in Court immediately. Earlier this morning, a concerned Kenyan pleaded with the DPP to have mercy on Maribe.  Maribe’s father is quoted to have said that her daughter was guilty of love and not murder.

Many have come to Maribe’s defense claiming that she could be a victim and therefore appear to be placing all the blame on his fiancee Joseph Irungu. Maribe’s lawyer had requested that the court should allow Maribe to take plea but this was disapproved by Justice Lesiit who directed that Maribe undergoes a mental test at the Mathari Mental Hospital before being presented in court on Monday, October 15. As some are sending prayers to Maribe in regard to what she is currently going through, a section of Kenyans also have a different opinion.
