Things are not funny for celebrated Emmy-winning comedian Katt Williams who was arrested for allegedly assaulting a limousine driver at a Portland, Oregon airport in a confrontation over the transportation of the celebrity’s dog.
The “Great America” star, whose real name is Micah Williams jailed on Sunday had gone to Portland to perform in Nick Cannon’s “Wild `N Out” comedy improv show Friday night.
Katt Williams is a comedian, actor and rapper whose off-stage controversies have often garner as much attention as his on-stage accomplishments. His credits include the films Rebound, Epic Movie and Friday After Next, and the TV series NYPD Blue and Wild n’ Out.
News Agencies report that Airport police said Williams, 47, got into an argument late on Friday with the driver after Williams asked for a ride with his dog from a private aviation terminal to a performance center in the city
“The victim sustained minor injuries to the face including swelling and cuts,” a police report indicated.
Williams left the scene in another vehicle. He was found on Saturday and booked on a fourth-degree assault charge, the report said.
Earlier this year, Williams won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his appearance in the show “Atlanta.”
A publicist for Williams, whose comedy specials have appeared on HBO and Netflix, didn’t immediately respond to messages seeking comment. A jail official and a spokesman for the district attorney’s office said they didn’t know if the comedian had an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
The arrest comes more than a year after Williams was sentenced to three years of probation in Los Angeles after pleading no contest to stealing a celebrity photographer’s camera. Prosecutors said in April 2017 that he also needed to attend anger management classes.
Encouraged by his early success, Williams honed his unique comic delivery by performing his routine in clubs nationwide, from Oklahoma to Oakland, California. By 1999, Katt had become an established comic, appearing on stage at the likes of The Improv, The Comedy Club, The Icehouse and The Hollywood Park Casino.
In December 2012, Williams was arrested outside a bar in Seattle, Washington, following an altercation with three fans. Shortly after the incident, he announced on a local news broadcast that he was retiring from stand-up comedy, but retracted his statement a few days later.
A warrant for Williams’s arrest was issued in January 2013, stemming from a November 2012 incident during which the comedian was reportedly chased by police officers while riding a three-wheeled motorbike in downtown Sacramento, California.
In 2016, Williams got five years of probation after pleading no contest in Georgia to assault and battery tied to allegations he threatened a bodyguard while an acquaintance beat him with a baseball bat.Still in an April 2016 incident Williams was taken into custody after throwing a saltshaker at a restaurant employee.

His most famous role was in the 2002 film Friday After Next, in which he played “Money Mike.” He has also appeared on various television series, including NYPD Blue, The Tracy Morgan Show and the MTV improv program Wild n’ Out.
