Chinese arrested with dangerous equipment in lavington,Nairobi

Five Chinese nationals have been arrested in Nairobi with items feared to be a threat to national security.

On Friday, the Immigration Department took to Twitter to warn Kenyans to be vigilant.

“5 Chinese nationals arrested in Lavington with a number of items recovered that are believed to be a threat to our National Security. More info coming up shortly,” the Immigration Department said.

Few years back Kenyan police  arrested 77 Chinese nationals on suspicion of running a cybercrime centre from homes in an upmarket area of the capital, Nairobi.

Officers believe the gang had been preparing to hack the country’s communication systems.

The Daily Nation newspaper said equipment capable of infiltrating bank accounts, Kenya’s M-Pesa mobile banking system and cash machines were discovered after a series of raids. “The suspects were  interrogated to establish their mission in the country and what they wanted to do with the communication gadgets. They were later charged in court,” said the director of Kenya’s criminal investigation department, Ndegwa Muhoro.
